Ambleside 02.02.20

There were 10 different walking routes planned for this Ambleside trip and the first two parties left the coach at Ings:
Stuart’s party headed south to join the Dales Way to Windermere, before striking north over Orrest Head and Dubbs Reservoir to Troutbeck. From here they joined Robin’s Lane - just as many other members did during the day.

Mike’s party crossed from Ings to Borrans Reservoir and up Applethwaite Common. Here they explored Sour Howe and Cappel Howe summits in total cloud. Dropping down to Troutbeck they followed Stuart’s party along Robin’s Lane past Jenkins Crag and Skelghyll Wood.
At Windermere five parties departed from the coach:
Steve J and Huw headed for Orrest Head, Dubbs Reservoir, and over to Ambleside via Robin’s Lane.
Marcia varied her route from Orrest Head with an exploration of a ‘new’ exit path from Nanny Lane, past a beautiful waterfall and down to Robins Lane. The highlight of the day was a Brazilian Cake made with Maize flour and coconut and brought by Dorothy.
Anne and Helen set off on an exploratory route from Elle;r Bank to Longmire to discover whether the footbridge across to Town End had been repaired. It certainly had been restored - with a very regal construction.
The two other parties started from Windermere;
 Steph and Frances crossed by Ferry to follow the woodland path alongside the Lake to Belham Tarn and eventually Clappersgate. Geoff’s party followed a similar route to include Claife Viewing Station and left the Lakeside path to explore the heights of Rough Hows and Latterbarrow.
The final four groups continued to AmblesideT:

The Oldhams ascended Low and High Fells and then, for the first time ever, they had the summit of Fairfield to themselves. Not surprising!
The final three parties ascended Wansfell Pike. Steve J approached it from Stag Woods and Nanny Lane to continue over Middle Grove.
Alan and Edwina ascended from Baystone
John and Paul's party revised their route and grouping and went up from Stock Hill.
Needless to say nobody saw anything from any of the summits except cloud.
But clearly the most well used path of the day was Robin’s Lane.
