The Coaches are beginning to fill up.......dont miss the next walk........Glenridding....! here Crowden to Glossop   2022.03.27 The sun shone all day, and at times there was a cool wind but just ideal for walking. Four of the five groups left the coach at the Crowden car park and set off in their different directions. Anne and Helen were treated to an additional few miles up the valley in search of a safe turning space for the coach and were subsequently dropped at their start of the Longendale Trail. They were joined by Pat and Steph’s group who had started from the road over Woodhead Dam and followed the same Trans Pennine Trail beside the reservoirs to Padifield and   Swineshaw Reservoir. A delightful path through glorious scenery and a grand entry to Glossop through Manor Park - followed by a devious Town Trail to the coach. Paul led his group north west towards Lad’s Leap and Millstone Rocks but before they could get to the top of the ridge they were firmly stopped a team

Please note the change in venue - the next walk is 27th March 2022     Crowden to Glossop Details below Stuart’s party was the first to leave the coach with an early start from Ambleside. They headed down the western side of Windermere to Latterbarrow and then cut across to Hawkshead Cat Cafe ! and on to Tarn Hows. A familiar and favourite walk. Six groups left the coach at or near Skelwith Bridge:   The Oldhams group and Geoff and Mike’s group set off for the long walk in to Wetherlam, distracted on the way by Tilberthwaite and Cathedral Caverns. But they managed all of the Coniston Old Man Round and more. Paul’s group from Skelwith Bridge, and John’s G group from Hollin Bank headed for the slopes of Wetherlam and Tilberthwaite Valley to enjoy an astonishing area of fascinating features – the waterfalls of Colwith, the caves, quarries and chasms of Tilberthwaite, the bridges in Little Langdale and Coppermines, all accessed by a maze of interlocking paths . There were seven groups to be dropped off at intervals along the A6 Shap to Kendal road. Inevitably the Oldham group were the first to leave the coach - near Wetsleddale just south of Shap - with the ominous walk card warning ‘ quick pace expected – no short cuts available’! They headed for Great Ladstones, Seat Robert and many more fells before a quick break at the remote Mosedale Cottage (Bothy) - never too inviting. Then on over Grey Crag, down to Sadgill, over Steel End and down to Kentmere. Further down the A6 Paul led his group from Hucks Bridge, down to Ashstead and over to Bannisdale Bridge. From here he crossed Long Sleddale to ascend Brunt Fell and down into Staveley Stuart also started on the east side of the A6 walking down to Selside and then crossed by Garnett Bridge. From here they crossed the fell to Potter Tarn and Gur
