TORVER to BROUGHTON 17th JULY 2022
The Oldhams
abandoned Green Crag and related peaks as their original target and they
followed a lower level route down Dunnerdale notching up a very worthy 14 mikes
in the intense heat of the day.
Mike J
followed his intended route from Hole Beck although his party was reduced by
25% as one member got off the coach too early and instead enjoyed a walk with
Paul’s group!
Paul
followed his original plan and enjoyed a pleasant pint at the ‘Blacksmiths
Arms’ in the tiny hamlet of Broughton Mills.
Stuart and
Ele followed a lower route from Torver to pass the lovely Beacon Tarn, before
dropping down to Cockenshell, where the party came to a sudden halt when an
adder slithered across the path between two members. The area is known for the
adder population, and a warning was given to this effect on the coach that
morning.
Pat and
Steph followed their intended route, but were severely hampered by fallen trees
and almost nonexistent footpaths, something most of our leaders understand.
Anne and
Helen started at Baskell and progressed through Broughton Mills to Mireside and
Broughton.
Allan and Huw started at Blawith heading for Beacon Tarn. Fallen trees hindered their progress in Green Glen Woods but once they reached the Old Railway track they were on their way to Broughton.
Thank you Stuart
