The Roaches 21st July 2019

Apologies for the delay - occupied elsewhere! Dramatic Gritstone Edges; patchworks of lush green fields and gently wooded river valleys - it was all ours to enjoy on our visit to the Roaches - once again blessed with fine warm weather and a gentle breeze on the tops to cool us down. The Oldhams and Stuart and Ele's group both had strenuous walks planned.  The Oldhams were off the coach first to go along the Macclesfield Canal and to the summit of the Cloud with its amazing views.   Then on the Staffordshire Way to Meersbrook and Staffordshire Moorlands Walks into Leek.  Stuart's walk went from Rushton Spencer up to Danesbridge, Hangingstone, Lud's Church, Roaches Ridge and Hen Cloud and then via the Tittesworth reservoir and Staffordshire Moorlands Walks back into Leek. Marcia and Mike's group and Geoff's group both followed similar routes and throughout the day kept "falling over" one another.  Not literally!  After following the
